Ask a Teacher - Joe Jones

My name is Joe Jones and for 15 years I have taught students across the world. Education can be incredibly scary for students, with expectations, standardized tests stress, and skills challenges all combined with attempting to develop a sense of self. Knowing how to support students is an iterative process, requiring differentiation, patience, and kindness. It doesn't matter what the curriculum, whether it be AP, IB, A-Level, GCSE, or one of the other myriad curriculums out there, students needs must be met to ensure academic excellence.

I am here to answer YOUR questions, whether you be an administrator, teacher, or a parent, I will attempt to guide you through the difficult process of educating our young for a better tomorrow.

Sean, Parent China

'My child is doing well academically (which is great) but I am growing concerned about the amount of homework they are getting. When I was at school I had homework every night but my kid seems to only have a night or two of additional work. What are your thoughts on this?

Yu Ting, Principal Singapore

I always seem to encounter both parents and staff struggling with the difference between bilingual programs and full international programs. How have you seen this dealt with in the past?

Gordon, Parent UK

I believe my child is working hard and doing ok in their tests and homework but they are increasingly asking for time to go out an see their friends. I am not sure if this is a good idea. How can I make sure they don't let their studies suffer?
